Sherpa Kitchen
About This Spot
Settled along Arapahoe Avenue in Boulder, Sherpa Kitchen unfolds like a warm invitation to slow down and savor a tapestry of Himalayan and Indian flavors. From the moment you step inside, the hum of friendly chatter and the scent of spices gently swirling through the air suggest a place where food is truly a shared experience — unpretentious, welcoming, and alive with connection.
The dining room carries a relaxed yet lively vibe, bustling quietly with locals who’ve made this their trusted go-to for weekday lunches or weekend gatherings. It’s the kind of spot where the pace matches the neighborhood rhythm — comfortable and easy — and where the welcoming smiles from the staff feel like an old friend greeting you home. Here, meals are not rushed but rather savored, each bite carrying the thoughtful balance of tradition and home-style warmth.
Exploring the menu feels like a gentle journey through the Himalayan foothills and into the heart of Indian kitchens: the smoky allure of tandoori momos, a comforting thali bursting with rich, layered curries, or the playful tang of samosa chaat shared among friends. The friendly crowd often gravitates toward dishes that bring a true sense of cozy nourishment — whether that’s a quietly spicy lamb vindaloo that surprises you with depth or a perfectly fluffy naan that invites slow, mindful bites between sips of warming chai.
Part of Sherpa Kitchen’s charm lies not just in its food, but in the rhythms of daily life it holds: busy lunch specials drawing in familiar faces, the glow of coming together over a casual meal, and the subtle hum of appreciation for something made with care. It’s a neighborhood spot that manages to feel both grounded and a little bit special, where the flavors invite you to share stories over a mango lassi or linger just a bit longer over a cup of hot tea as Boulder’s cooler evenings settle in.

Five stars for both the food and the people. Especially the tandoori momo which is super smoky and burst of flavors. We like Crispy, saucy, and flavorful chowmin. The naan is very fluffy and the chicken tikka just melts in your mouth.Good food = good mood will definitely be back soon.

The Rogan chicken curry was better than average. I recommend what I ordered, 4 out of 5 on the spice chart. I'd say it's a little hotter than Madras-level spice, which is enough heat for most people. The garlic naan was very good, as were the samosas. The Dahl soup was rushed, so the lentils were a little too firm, but the flavour was correct. It would be better if they blended at least half the lentils for a thicker consistency and cooked it a bit longer. If you like good simple lager beer, the Taj Mahal beer is excellent. The servers are really nice. I would say the place could use a deep clean, especially the bathroom.

This place is genuinely fantastic in every way. I’m completely in love with their food!!! Really reasonable prices for how delicious the food is. I have ordered for pick up, delivery and dined in before. Flavors are all consistent but I did especially join my dine in experience. I usually order the butter chicken, mango lassi and appetizer platter (love their momos and samosas!! They are WOW). The butter chicken is also amazing and comes with generous amounts of meat. Chicken biryani here is also great with really tender chicken, though I wish there was almost a bit less spices? It’s almost too many flavors of spices that don’t feel all combined but still really delicious. They’re really clean with glass table tops and servers cleaning right after (I actually would like to recommend they be more careful about spraying the cleaning product in the vicinity of customers). For example spraying into the rag or blocking the direction of an eating customer / spraying away. Bathroom is also very clean which is always a great sign of the cleanliness of a restaurant. Overall I will come back time and time again and I miss this place when I’m away!

In a world of indian restaurants with an empty dining room and bustling takeout service, the dining room at this place was packed which immediately got me excited. i got the Lamb vindaloo, asking for it as spicy as possible, and it was 10/10 good. well balanced, made me sweat, perfect. Naan was chewy and not crispy in the best way, like a well developed pizza crust. Shared the veggie tandori dumplings (momo) and was very solid. will be back soon

Our favorite lunch place in Boulder! We’ve been known to go multiple times per week lol. They have a great lunch special deal that has the perfect spread of food + portions. Always hits the spot, and the folks there are always welcoming. Despite it being casual, this is where we bring out-of-town friends to show them the best of Boulder.

This is such a hidden gem in Boulder. We were in town for a day, and stumbled upon Sherpa Kitchen when looking for authentic Nepalese restaurants (we love our momos and curries), and we're SO GLAD we did!! The food is fantastic, ambience is warm and welcoming, and the service and hospitality are top notch. My wife got the chicken thali and loved it - the chicken curry, saag paneer, chana masala, dal, and kheer were sumptuous. I got the steamed veg momos and was instantly transported to my happy place! The chutney was perfect, and the momos were juicy, moist, and flavorful - the dough-to-veggie ratio was spot on (trust me, I'm a bit of snob when it comes to momos). Do yourself a favor and visit this place. I wish the owners could bring this restaurant to Atlanta - I would consider traveling to Colorado just for this food :)
